Hello Reader, In this episode of the StableMinded Podcast, we continue to explore what it looks like to give ourselves “permission to change.” By looking intentionally at our spiritual, emotional, and relational health through a framework drawn from Erikson's developmental model, side-by-side with the stages of spiritual maturity, we can gain insight into how our developmental wounds and attachment patterns shape the way we relate to God and others. These patterns and coping strategies often rise to the surface when we face “the wall,” also known as the dark soul of the night, which usually occurs during or after a season of suffering. This is when faith is truly tested. And that is often when we get stuck. The way forward requires intentional pursuit, and that pursuit can create friction in relationships, routines, and expectations. But with the right support in place, and strategies that strive to preserve healthy relationships while deepening faith and resiliency, it is possible to experience God's transforming work in your heart, soul, mind, and body. Hello Reader, For many of us, change feels scary, not because growth is wrong, but because growth unsettles the relationships we are in. People often relate to us based on who we have been, while God is inviting us into who we are becoming. That gap can create friction, misunderstanding, and a lot of internal pressure to stay the same for everyone else’s comfort. Change disrupts homeostasis. When one element in a system changes, the whole system feels it. That includes marriages, families,...
Hello Reader, If you have ever felt like you are capable and caring, but constantly behind, scattered, overwhelmed by anxiety that fights against your faith, or defeated by being accused that you’re too _____ (sensitive, emotional, inconsiderate, bossy, etc), then this episode is for you. We are talking about ADHD in women and girls, and why this isn’t a fad but a cry for help and better care. ADHD has gone undiagnosed in girls for far too long, dismissed by the stereotype of hyperactivity as...
Hello Reader, Can you believe we're already one week into March? For so many of us, this is that time of year when we feel really worn down. The winter blues are beckoning for the hope of spring. The financial hit of the holidays may start lifting, although for those of us living in the US and coming through a hard winter, that relief in light of the circumstances and economy may not feel significant enough. I get it, on so many levels. That is one of the reasons I pivoted with the Equipped...
