Need help navigating through the hard this holiday season?

pressing into authentic life transformation through heart + soul + mind + body restoration

Hey there Reader,

I wanted to check in with you and see how you are handling this holiday season.

As intentional as we may feel about enjoying the holiday season, the reality is that the "hard stuff" of life doesn't take a beat.

I really felt it when I started decorating the tree, choosing muted colors and a simple, calm golden and neutral hue. It reflects where my heart is at. Maybe you feel that way, too. Like the noise of the world and all the hard is begging for something quieter and softer.

Are you feeling this need to "shush" everything, too?

For me, I know where it is coming from. The weariness of not being fully healed from the injury I sustained after falling off my horse in August is a frustrating reality every day. I'm also carrying the emotional weight of health concerns for loved ones, the kind that make you realize life is short and time is not endless.

And over the last six weeks, my beloved horse, Kodiak Jack, has also had a series of medical issues. It's like one thing turned into another -- freak things like a puncture wound almost in his eye to other, unfigureoutable issues, which have stumped the entire team of caregivers. We're now waiting on another blood test to see if that provides any answers.

I'm sure that for all of my challenges, you are facing ones yourself.

Because hard doesn't take a beat.

So I wanted to share with you what I'm doing to navigate through this season, seeking to savor the celebration of our Savior's birth, while also recognizing the reality of suffering between Eden and eternity.

I call this focus my G.R.I.T. Practice, which helps me take a pause and find a reset for moving forward.

  1. G - Grace
Allow God's grace to wash over the limits of your humanity, acknowledging the hard instead of just "pressing through" it.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV
  2. R - Recognize
Recognize the signs and symptoms that your body is revealing about how you feel, noticing the heaviness, tension, anxiety, worry, and weariness, and ask God to reveal what is happening in your heart and thoughts.

Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Psalm 193:23
  3. I - Intuition
Instead of ignoring your gut, take note of what your heart, soul, mind, and body need in this moment, releasing expectations and making necessary adjustments.

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26 NIV

    {By the way, you're going to be hearing more of those reset reminders as I continue to focus on authentic life transformation through heart, soul, mind, and body restoration.}
  4. T - Truth
Remember that you are not alone. God is with you, even in the hard, and you can lean into Him as He holds you up. And you can also lean on others, too. It is not weak to ask for help and seek out emotional support.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10 NIV

How could you apply these simple steps to navigate through your hard as well?

I'd love to hear from you, so be sure to click reply and share with me how I can be praying for you!

Still becoming,
