Turning Tangles into Transformation

Hello Reader,

Have you lost your creativity? That imagination and risk taking that is developmentally appropriate for children?

I did . . . for art too long.

But in this post-sabbatical season of leaning into the unforced rhythms of grace, I'm also unbridling creativity!

I'm not only holding space for life of the artist within me to remerge, but I'm also telling the story in the “Life After Sabbatical” series I'm sharing on Substack.

In part 2, I share how the words that should have never been spoken rerouted my life and buried my creativity.

In part 3, I describe how the unraveling of my life led to finding the artist within through stumbling upon an art method that unknowingly carried me through my chaotic childhood, and offered an invitation to consider what was lost . . . and found.

It turns out I wasn't simply "doodling" because I was "distracted." I was drawing repetitive patterns because it helped me hear better in my classes and brought calm to my racing mind.

As a girl with undiagnosed ADHD, a pen in my hand was a saving grace. Now, as a women who understands how her brain works, I can attest that #tangling indeed has mental health benefits. It has carried me through a season of burnout and grief, and is becoming something I'm ready to share . . . not only the words, but also my art.

Friend, thanks for letting me slip into your inbox and share what the Lord is doing in my life. It is so good to be writing again, and even better to know that I'm able to encourage you on your journey of becoming StableMinded.

Learning the Unforced Rhythms of Grace

Hello Reader, When I slipped into your inbox last, I shared how the words are flowing again. Behind the scenes I've been writing and savoring, creating and dreaming, waiting and wondering about what God is up to. I still don't have answers, but the energy and hope is building. As one draft has led to another, I'm growing in confidence that the words are going to keep coming. Maybe not on a schedule. Definitely without a plan or promise . . . and that feels so, so good. So it seems fitting to...
