Permission to Change, Part 1: Moving Forward with Resiliency

Hello Reader,

For many of us, change feels scary, not because growth is wrong, but because growth unsettles the relationships we are in. People often relate to us based on who we have been, while God is inviting us into who we are becoming. That gap can create friction, misunderstanding, and a lot of internal pressure to stay the same for everyone else’s comfort.

Change disrupts homeostasis.

When one element in a system changes, the whole system feels it. That includes marriages, families, friendships, and communities.

When we change, people around us might feel unsettled, and we might feel tempted to backpedal or shrink ourselves to keep the peace.

Can you relate? If so, this episode is for you!

It's time to explore, from multiple angles, how to give ourselves permission to change without becoming selfish and self-absorbed, reactive, or even a bit rebellious.

We'll hold space for exploring how to move forward while still showing empathy and compassion for the people adjusting to our transformation.

And we'll get into practical application, including:

  • Why change disrupts “homeostasis” in families and marriages
  • How boundaries protect safety without trying to control other people
  • The window of tolerance and why growth happens in the “yellow zone”
  • Why our early development can make change feel terrifying
  • A Scripture anchor I return to again and again: Psalm 16

Yes, this is another episode coming straight from my lived experience, which I'm bringing to you because I wish I had this perspective a long time ago. So tune into this first part to hear what I've learned and then come back for Part 2, where I'll unpack for you a framework for assessing the seasons and stages of your transformation through a faith integrated with neuropyschological approach for your emotional, relational, and spiritual growth process.

These patterns and coping strategies often...
