Leaning In, Not Running

Discerning the Themes with Courage & Curiosity

Hello Reader,

Ever notice how particular themes will present in your life around a particular concept or word?

Quiet . . . silence . . . pause . . . rest.

Those are the themes coming up for me in this season -- in what I'm reading, listening to, and hearing from God.

I want to welcome it in, but I am struggling to figure out how! Can you relate?

What do I do with the to-do list?

How about that need over there that I want to meet?

Can I really say NO to that?

What if . . .

Sound familiar?

So what should we do when the "themes" feel like pressure rather than release?

Well, first, to be aware of the "freeze response" -- that classic dilemma of indecision to avoid the consequences of change.

Second, to be curious about why this theme is present.

What can I learn if I lean in?

What might have to change that feels scary?

Beneath the fear, what vulnerability feels too close to being exposed?

Third, make the "lean in" smaller so that your brain does not perceive it as a threat of harm.

This is the process I'm walking through as I recognize what my mind, heart, body, and soul are craving AND resisting. While I don't have a quick-fix solution or a plan for responding to the "theme" of embracing quiet and rest, I do have a process that will lend itself to stepping forward in courage with curiosity.

How about you?

What are you hearing? Feeling? Sensing? Longing?

How can you move forward in courage with curiosity?

Hit reply and let me know how the themes circling around your heart, mind, body, and soul!

I’d love to pray for you!

If you want to talk it out, let's book a session!

Together, let's stabilize and thrive personally & professionally!
